Time stealers at home

Your home is filled with time-stealing distractions. Don't let time slip through your fingers!

Here are some solutions to common time-wasting problems:

TV – limit recreational TV to one hour or less per day
the Internet – surfing the ‘Net is one of the biggest time wasters. If you’re checking a web resource, ignore pop-ups and unrelated links. Limit online game-playing to no more than an hour a day.
reading newspapers and magazines – watching TV news or listening to the radio lets you skim quickly through newspapers and magazines
returning phone calls – use automatic dial and redial to speed up the process. Try to keep calls short – five minutes per call is a good target.
waiting in lineups, traffic, doctor's offices, etc. – make good use of lengthy waiting times by bringing a book to read or work to do, or listening to motivational tapes or music
shopping – go shopping with a list and leave the store when your list is complete. Combine all your shopping into one trip so you don't waste time on multiple visits to the mall or grocery store. Don't buy anything unless you have a specific use or place for it.
